Involvement
Our aim is that your involvement with the Village Parent Participation Preschool be as fulfilling for you as it is joyful for your child.
We are flexible and try to meet the needs of individual families. For example, we have parents who work outside of the home and are only able to perform duty days on specific days each month. Other couples share the duties, with one parent attending the monthly meetings and the other performing the duty days.
Duty days
Duty parents participate in two to three duty days per month for about 2 1/2 hours each duty day assisting the teacher in the classroom. Duties in the classroom include helping the teacher set up activities for the day, facilitating the children's play, and cleaning up in preparation for the next day.
Prior to the first duty day, each duty parent completes ten hours of orientation, comprised of several different components such as: attending meetings, reading parent education material and the policy manual of the Village PPP, performing a "mock duty day", and observing a classroom session.
Jobs assigned
Each family takes responsibility for one aspect of the administration of the preschool, whether it is helping out with the general administration of the school or serving on the Executive Committee.

Monthly meetings
One evening meeting per month keeps parents up-to-date on the operation of the school, provides a time for parent education, and generally promotes the community of the school. The parent education segment of the monthly meeting encourages personal development, offers ideas, inspiration, support, and increased awareness of child development.
Members are also invited to join the Executive Committee. As a member of the Executive you have the unique opportunity to be an active leader in your child's preschool environment. It is a rewarding experience that provides an opportunity to take on new challenges in a fun and supportive environment.

Both the executive and general meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. Preschool members on the Executive Committee meet from 6:00 to 7:00 pm and the general meeting follows immediately afterwards.
Fundraising
Each member family participates in and promotes the fund-raising efforts of the Village PPP. Fundraising generally consists of one major fundraiser, such as a raffle, or in past years, a silent auction. Other smaller events include selling baked goods at The Pumpkin Patch event held every October at Highlands Elementary school.
