Welcome!
In our preschool, the teacher, parents, and other caregivers all work together. Our goal is to offer play-based, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for the children and to develop their social and emotional skills in preparation for kindergarten. Having parents in the classroom creates a warm, welcoming and positive first school experience for the children.
The Village Parent Participation Preschool (PPP) is located near Edgemont Village in North Vancouver, British Columbia.
The Village PPP offers a high quality program and has been chosen by the North Vancouver School District to participate in their Early Learning Foundations program.
Our preschool is also a Tribes Learning Community, where we create a positive classroom environment for the healthy development of our children.
The preschool also, "...exceeds the expectations for the social and emotional needs of children." as reported by the Coastal Health Authority's 2006 evaluation.
Classroom Observation
The best way to know if a parent participation preschool is for you is to watch a class in action. We encourage parents interested in the concept of PPPs to contact us to book a day to observe a typical day at the preschool.
You will have time to visit our "house", sit in our library, and peek in our cupboards. You are welcome to bring your child, to see how the environment suits their personality, or to come on your own, so that you can concentrate on observing other interactions in the class.
"I love the fact that I'm part of my son Lucas' first steps into the bigger world," says Sylvie Michaud, one of the current preschool parents. "It's more work than a typical preschool, but being in the classroom a couple of times a month has given me such insight into his development. The sense of community among the parents is also a bonus."
